Pool Filter Repair
Pool Filter Issues? We Diagnose and Fix Them Right.
A failing filter means cloudy water, poor circulation, and stressed equipment. Kleen Water repairs all major filter types — DE, cartridge, and sand — so your system runs the way it should.
Filter Types We Repair
Each filter type has different components, failure modes, and repair needs. Our technicians are experienced with all three.
DE (Diatomaceous Earth) Filters
The finest filtration available — but they require more maintenance and have more components that can fail.
Common Repairs
- Torn or damaged grids
- Broken manifold or standpipe
- Failed backwash valve
- Cracked tank or lid
- DE powder bypass issues
Cartridge Filters
The most common filter type in newer North Texas pools. Simple design, but cartridges and housings can wear out.
Common Repairs
- Worn or damaged cartridges
- Cracked filter housing
- Failed O-rings and seals
- Broken filter lid or clamp
- Pressure relief valve issues
Sand Filters
Low maintenance but sand degrades over time and internal components can fail, causing poor filtration.
Common Repairs
- Broken laterals or standpipe
- Failed multiport valve
- Cracked tank or lid
- Sand channeling issues
- Backwash valve problems
Signs Your Pool Filter Needs Repair
Cloudy water that won't clear up
Even with balanced chemistry, a failing filter can't remove fine particles.
Pressure gauge reading too high or too low
High pressure means clogged media; low pressure often indicates a broken internal component.
Weak return flow from jets
Restricted flow through the filter reduces circulation throughout the pool.
Sand or DE powder returning to the pool
Broken laterals or grids allow filter media to bypass into the pool.
Filter needs backwashing constantly
Could indicate channeling, worn media, or an internal component issue.
Visible cracks or leaks on the filter tank
Structural damage that needs immediate attention to prevent equipment failure.
Filter Cleaning vs. Filter Repair
Not every filter problem requires repair. Sometimes a thorough cleaning is all it takes. Here's how to tell the difference:
You Probably Need a Cleaning If...
- •Pressure is high but there's no visible damage
- •It's been 3–6 months since the last clean
- •Water is slightly cloudy but chemistry is balanced
- •Flow is reduced but the filter looks intact
Filter cleaning starts at $145. Included in Full Service Plus.

- •Visible cracks, breaks, or damaged components
- •Sand or DE powder is returning to the pool
- •Pressure is abnormally low (not just high)
- •Cleaning doesn't resolve the issue
We'll diagnose the issue and give you a clear recommendation before any repair work begins.
