Weekly Pool Maintenance Checklist for Texas Homeowners

The complete checklist for keeping your North Texas pool safe, clean, and ready to swim — week after week.

By Cameron Novak · 5 min read

Keeping a pool in North Texas requires more than just adding chlorine and hoping for the best. Between the heat, spring pollen, summer storms, and heavy use, your pool needs consistent attention to stay safe, clear, and equipment-friendly.

This checklist covers everything a North Texas pool owner should be doing — from daily tasks to seasonal maintenance. Use it as your guide, or hand it to your pool service company to make sure nothing gets missed.

North Texas Pool Tips

  • In summer (June–September), check chlorine levels more frequently — heat burns through chlorine fast
  • After heavy rain, test and rebalance chemistry immediately — rain dilutes chemicals and lowers pH
  • During spring pollen season, clean your filter more often and skim daily
  • Run your pump at least 8 hours per day in summer for proper circulation
  • If your pool turns green, don't drain it — treat it with shock and algaecide first
